Gasum launches new bio-LNG station in Norway

Finnish state-owned energy firm and LNG supplier, Gasum, has launched a new bio-LNG fueling station for trucks in Norway.

According to a statement by Gasum, the company has joined forces with Mjavann Invest to open the new gas filling station for liquefied biogas (LBG or bio-LNG) in Kristiansand municipality.

Besides bio-LNG, the station also offer CNG and is open to corporate distributors and to the public.

The Kristiansand station is Gasum’s sixth bio-LNG filling station in Norway.

It serves logistics companies in the region and facilitates long-haul traffic between Oslo and Kristiansand.

Local logistics company VeOy has invested in biogas-powered trucks and was the pilot customer already during the test filling period, while another local logistics firm Josdal Transportservice will receive their first biogas-powered trucks within few months.

Gasum said it plans to build additional filling stations later during 2024, one of which will be located in Sandnes near Stavanger, thereby taking the initial step in connecting the corridor along the E39 from Kristiansand to Alesund on the western coast of Norway.
