Finland’s tech firm Wartsila said it will supply equipment for Gasum’s new bio-LNG production plant in Sweden.
Wartsila booked the order in the fourth quarter of 2024.
However, the firm did not provide the contract price or the facility’s location.
Gasum revealed earlier this year it had decided to build a new bio-LNG plant in Borlange, Sweden.
The Finnish firm said the investment worth more than 62 million euros ($66.7) is the next step in its plan to build five large-scale biogas plants in Sweden.
Under the new deal, Warstila will deliver biogas upgrading and liquefaction solutions for Gasum’s bio-LNG plant.
The plant will produce bio-LNG from agricultural and organic household waste.
When operational, the Wartsila offering will be capable of producing 25 tons of bio-LNG per day.
In addition to the biogas upgrading and liquefaction systems, the Wartsila scope includes a 200-cbm storage tank and an export and filling station.
The delivery includes preparation for a future system expansion and the installation of a second liquefaction unit.
Warstila said the solution is almost identical to Gasum’s Gotene plant, which Wartsila is currently delivering and will be started up later this year.
The new plant will be commissioned for commercial production at the beginning of 2026.
