Uniper’s Liqvis launches French LNG station

Liqvis, a unit of German energy firm Uniper, has launched another LNG filling station for trucks in France as demand for the fuel continues to grow in Europe.

The new station, supplied by Dutch cryogenic tech firm Cryonorm, is located in Bouc-Bel-Air in southern France, part of the greater Marseille area.

The station will supply the international heavy goods traffic going south or north from Marseille with LNG, Liqvis said.

In addition, the new station follows the opening of the first Liqvis station in France near Calais in October last year.

According to its website, besides these two stations, Liqvis has four operational LNG filling stations in Germany and four under development.

Shell recently said in a report that it expects European road LNG demand to reach 7.9 million tonnes by 2030. Bio-LNG would account for about 40% of this demand.

According to Shell, there are more than 300 LNG filling stations in 21 countries across Europe, with about 15,000 LNG-powered trucks in operation.
