Bangladesh’s RPGCL seeks two spot LNG cargoes

Bangladesh's Rupantarita Prakritik Gas (RPGCL), a unit of state-owned Petrobangla, is seeking two spot LNG cargoes for delivery in the second half of March.

According to a tender document posted on RPGCL’s website, the delivery windows are March 25-26 and March 30-31.

RPGCL issued the tender to “the 16 organizations that have signed the MSPA (master sale and purchase agreement) with Petrobangla.”

The tender will close on March 9.

Before this tender, RGPCL invited bids on February 26 for two spot LNG cargoes with deliveries during March 9-10 and March 15-16.

According to local media reports this week, Bangladesh approved a purchase of two LNG cargoes from units of TotalEnergies and Gunvor.

The prices are reportedly at $15.73/MMBtu and $15.47/MMBtu.

In addition, local reports suggest that energy behemoth Aramco has agrees to supply LNG to Bangladesh at “lower prices.”

It appears that Armaco is working on a long-term LNG supply deal with Bangladesh, but LNG Prime could not confirm this by the time this article was published.

Bangladesh currently imports LNG via two FSRU-based facilities, both of which feature Excelerate Energy’s FSRUs.

The 138,000-cbm FSRU Excellence serves Bangladesh’s first LNG import facility, Moheshkhali Floating LNG or MLNG, operated by Petrobangla.

Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Summit LNG serves as the second LNG import facility operated by Summit.
