Eni’s Mozambique FLNG ships 100th cargo

Eni’s 3.4 mtpa Coral Sul FLNG, located offshore Mozambique, has shipped its 100th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) since 2022.

According to a statement by the National Petroleum Institute of Mozambique, the milestone cargo was loaded on Saturday.

INP did not provide details regarding the shipment.

According to its AIS data provided by VesselsValue, the 2018-built 173,400-cbm, Kinisis, loaded a cargo at the Coral Sul FLNG, located in the ultra-deep waters of the Rovuma Basin, on Saturday.

The vessel appears to be heading to Samcheok in South Korea, where the Kogas-operated LNG terminal is located.

In November 2022, the Coral Sul FLNG shipped its first cargo of LNG, adding Mozambique to the LNG producing countries.

In August last year, Eni announced the achievement of 5 million tons of LNG produced from the Coral Sul FLNG.

The TJS consortium, consisting of Technip Energies, JGC, and Samsung Heavy, built the unit for Eni, the first floating LNG facility ever to be deployed in the deep waters of the African continent.

Eni discovered Coral back in May 2012, and it operates the Area 4 along its partners ExxonMobil, CNPC, GALP, Kogas, and ENH.

In addition to this unit, the partners are also working on the second FLNG project offshore Mozambique, called Coral Norte (Coral North).

Coral North would be a replica of Coral South.
