Three firms have teamed up to start offering bio-LNG and bio-CNG for trucks from a station in Italy’s Turin, as part of a move to further slash emissions.
Truck manufacturer Iveco and an Italian unit of energy giant Engie have teamed up with fuel distributor Vulcangas to add biofuel to the existing LNG and CNG station launched in Febbruary last year in Turin.
In addition, the three firms claim that this facility now becomes the only station in the northwest of the country to offer biomethane for trucks.
It supplied its first bio-LNG to an Iveco truck on March 15, according to a joint statement.
The station gets biomethane from a production plant located in the province of Lodi, where it is purified and liquefied, the statement said.
Moreover, the facility mainly serves heavy-duty vehicles via two LNG and four CNG dispensers, as well as a charging point for electric vehicles.
