Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Excelsior recently docked at a new jetty, two kilometers south of the already operational Wilhelmshaven 1 terminal, to start serving the second FSRU-based terminal.
“After the arrival of the FSRU, we started the commissioning process,” a DET spokesman told LNG Prime.
“We expect the first commissioning cargo in the next weeks,” the spokesman said.
He did not reveal further details.
The 277-meter-long FSRU is moored at the island jetty, completed last year, and located about 1.5 km from the shore.
In a separate statement, ECOnnect Energy said it had finalized and tested its jetty-less IQuay F-Class at Wilhelmshaven 2, confirming full operational readiness for gas transfer.
The Norwegian company first said that final preparations for first gas are set to “begin on
May 21, with the official commencement of gas sendout scheduled for May 23.”
However, ECOnnect Energy then corrected the statement, saying that these dates were based on preliminary planning details.
“These dates have since changed and are not final,” the company said.
DET’s second terminal in Wilhelmshaven will have a capacity of about 4 bcm per year.
The state-owned company currently operates the Brunsbüttel and Wilhelmshaven 1 FSRU-based terminals.
DET is also working on the Stade FSRU-based terminal.
However, the company recently terminated the contract related to the Stade FSRU-based facility with compatriot Hanseatic Energy Hub, the developer of the onshore LNG terminal in Stade.
