LNG terminal operator Badak LNG said in a statement that the milestone LNG cargo was shipped on June 12 onboard the LNG carrier Vivirt City LNG.
The 2021-built 174,000-cbm vessel is owned by H-Line and chartered by trader Vitol.
Badak LNG said the LNG carrier loaded about 158,000 cbm of LNG for delivery to Batangas, Philippines.
According to its AIS data provided by VesselsValue, the LNG carrier was on Monday located at the the Ilijan LNG terminal in the Philippines.
Earlier this year, Vitol signed a 10-year sales and purchase deal with LNGPH to deliver LNG to Batangas, Philippines.
Badak LNG stated that achieving 10,000 shipments is one of the milestones that remains difficult to reach by any LNG export plant in the world.
Starting from 1977, the Bontang LNG plant has shipped LNG to various countries.
The volumes have been delivered primarily to Asian markets such as Japan. The faciity also supplies the domestic market.
Badak LNG said the total volume of shipments has reached millions of cubic meters of LNG.
The eight-train facility has a production capacity of about 22.5 mtpa.
However, its production has been decreasing during the last two decades due to a lack of natural gas supplies.
According to GIIGNL data, trains E, F, G, and H, each with a capacity of 2.9 mtpa, are currently operational.
Italy’s Eni is working on a new production hub in the Kutei basin, offshore Indonesia, and previously said it plans to send gas supplies from its Geng North discovery to Pertamina’s Bontang LNG facility.
In August 2024, the Indonesian government approved the development plans for the Geng North, Gehem, and Gendalo and Gandang fields, operated by Eni.
GIIGNL noted these fields would produce approximately 2 bcf/d of gas, which would be partly liquefied at the Bontang LNG facility.
