Woodfibre said in its latest construction update that July has marked another productive month at the site, with “significant” progress on both land and water.
According to the firm, a major milestone was achieved with the commencement of the project’s first permanent marine pile for the floating storage tank on July 15, initiated under our approved early start window.
This follows the successful placement of pipe racks and continued foundation work for LNG processing infrastructure.
Onshore, crews remain focused on backfilling, grading, concrete placements, rock scaling, and advancing the onshore mooring casings for the floating storage tank, Woodfibre LNG said.
“To support dust control efforts, treated water is being actively reused on-site, an approach that aligns with the project’s commitment to minimizing environmental impacts,” it said.
Last month, Woddfibre LNG installed the first pipe rack modules at the site of its LNG export facility following delivery of the first seven modules from China.
China’s Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW), a joint venture consisting of McDermott and China State Shipbuilding Corporation, built and shipped these modules.
QMW will build 19 modules, some weighing in excess of 10,000 metric tonnes, for Woodfibre LNG.
While construction on-site began in September 2023, the LNG project has adopted a modular construction approach to enhance efficiency and meet its construction timeline.
The JV plans to complete the facility, which will have a capacity of 2.1 mtpa and storage of about 250,000 cbm, in 2027.
