Bangladesh’s RPGCL launches fresh tender for spot LNG cargoes

Bangladesh's Rupantarita Prakritik Gas (RPGCL), a unit of state-owned Petrobangla, has issued a new tender for three spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes.

According to a tender document, the delivery windows are November 22-23, November 25-26, and December 26-27.

The firm issued the tender to the 23 organizations that have signed the MSPA (master sale and purchase agreement) with Petrobangla.

The tender closes on September 7.

Before this tender, RGPCL invited bids on August 12 for three spot LNG shipments with deliveries during October 6-7, October 19-20, and October 21-22.

After that, RPGCL issued another tender on August 29 seeking two deliveries during November 11-12, and November 22-23.

This means that RPGCL is again seeking bids for the November 22-23 delivery in the latest tender.

Local media reports suggest that Bangladesh approved the purchase of one spot LNG cargo this week.

The reports claim that Petrobangla will buy one LNG cargo from TotalEnergies Gas & Power for $11.54/MMBtu.

Bangladesh currently imports LNG via two FSRU-based facilities, both of which feature Excelerate Energy’s FSRUs.

The 138,000-cbm FSRU Excellence serves Bangladesh’s first LNG import facility, Moheshkhali Floating LNG or MLNG, operated by Petrobangla.

Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Summit LNG serves as the second LNG import facility operated by Summit.
