According to a statement by the joint venture of Pacific Energy and Enbridge, the pretreatment module and the process utility module mark the 13th and 14th modules to arrive at the Woodfibre LNG project site.
The modules arrived from China aboard the specialized heavy-lift vessel Seaway Swan on Saturday.
Woodfibre LNG noted that another five modules are due to arrive over the next few months.
In May last year, Woodfibre LNG took delivery of the first seven modules from China at the site of its LNG export facility.
China’s Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW), a joint venture consisting of McDermott and China State Shipbuilding Corporation, built and shipped these modules.
Woodfibre LNG said the pretreatment module is among the largest modules for the facility, weighing over 12,292 metric tons and measuring more than 90 meters long and 47 meters high– roughly the size of a 12-storey building, almost as long as a soccer field.
The pretreatment module removes impurities from natural gas feedstock, such as any moisture or any trace gases so the gas meets strict specifications for liquefaction.
Moreover, the process utility module supplies the critical common process utilities for the LNG process, including the tempered cooling water system, hot oil heating system, and the thermal oxidizer.
While construction on-site began in September 2023, the LNG project has adopted a modular construction approach to enhance efficiency and meet its construction timeline.
The JV plans to complete the facility, which will have a storage capacity of about 250,000 cbm, in 2027.
