Hoervher, Hoegh Evi did not provide further details.
“Floating LNG terminals, including the Höegh Galleon, are central to Egypt’s flexible infrastructure system and role as an energy hub for the Middle East,” it said.
In May 2024, Hoegh Evi confirmed it had signed a deal with Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) and Egypt’s EGAS to deploy the 2019-built FSRU Hoegh Galleon to Egypt.
The agreement with EGAS was for an interim period of June 2024 to February 2026.
In July 2024, Hoegh Galleon received its first US LNG cargo in Egypt’s Ain Sokhna.
Last year, Hoegh Evi signed a new charter deal with EGAS to deploy a converted FSRU in Egypt.
Singapore’s Seatrium will convert the LNG carrier Hoegh Gandria to a floating storage and regasification unit.
The FSRU Hoegh Gandria will be deployed in the fourth quarter of 2026 to the Port of Sumed and will supply up to 1,000 mmscf/day of peak LNG regasification capacity.
The unit will replace the FSRU Hoegh Galleon.
According to Hoegh Evi, Galleon will remain in Egypt for up to an additional year before deployment to AIE’s LNG terminal in Port Kembla, Australia in 2027.
