Yangzijiang delivers LNG-powered giant to CMA CGM

China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has delivered the first of ten ultra-large LNG dual-fuel container vessels to French shipping giant CMA CGM.

Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding, a unit of Yangzijiang, delivered CMA CGM Notre Dame on May 12, and the vessel departed the yard on May 15, according to a Yangzijiang statement.

Yangzijiang said this vessel is the first in a series of 10 24,000 teu LNG dual-fuel ultra-large container ships being built for CMA CGM, and it is also the largest LNG dual-fuel container ship in terms of container capacity in the shipbuilder’s history.

Construction of the vessel began in November 2024, with a construction period of 552 days.
