Golar LNG names new CEO

Golar LNG has appointed Karl Fredrik Staubo as the company’s new chief executive after Iain Ross decided to step down from the position following almost four years with the firm.

Staubo previously served ac CEO of Golar LNG Partners, which Golar sold to New Fortress Energy.

In addition, has also been acting as chief financial officer of Golar since September 2020.

The new CEO has a “broad” shipping and energy background from Clarksons Platou Securities and Magni Partners, Golar said in a statement on Thursday.

Maranhao takes over as CFO

Golar’s board has also during a meeting appointed Eduardo Maranhao to take over Staubo’s role as the firm’s finance chief.

Maranhao has since 2015 been supporting Golar in different functions including as chief financial officer of Golar Power/Hygo Energy Transition until its recent sale to New Fortress Energy.

“Both individuals have deep knowledge about our company, they are good leaders, have strong work ethics, dynamic minds and have delivered solid value to the group over the last years,” Golar’s chairman, Tor Olav Troim, said in the statement.

“Together, with the rest of Golar’s management and board, we are convinced that the company has a strong management team ready to stream-line Golar’s existing operations and also explore the opportunities we see in the LNG market today,” he said.
