DSME delivers second Minerva LNG newbuild

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has delivered the second LNG carrier to Greek shipping firm Minerva Gas.

The 173,400-cbm Minerva Limnos joined the fleet of Minerva Gas, a unit of Andreas Martinos-led Minerva Marine, on June 30.

Minerva Gas did not reveal the charterer of the Malta-flagged LNG carrier. Its sister ship, Minerva Psara, works under a charter deal with Shell.

Both of these newbuilds feature MAN ME-GI propulsion, GTT’s NO96 containment tech, and a partial reliquefaction system.

Besides these two sister vessels at Daewoo, Minerva has another three 174,000-cbm LNG carriers under construction at the Samsung Heavy yard in Korea.

Samsung has delivered the first out of these three vessels, Minerva Kalymnos, in February this year.

These LNG carriers will have WinGD’s X-DF propulsion and GTT’s Mark III Flex Plus containment system.
