Offshore accommodation specialist Floatel International said it has won a contract for the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG export project in Australia.
Under the contract awarded by Inpex Operations Australia, Floatel’s semi-submersible unit Floatel Triumph will provide accommodation and related services at the Ichthys field offshore Western Australia.
The charter would start mid-2022 and last for up to two months, according to a Floatel statement.
In addition, Floatel said the work would involve some 40-55 Australian offshore positions in locally provided marine crew and catering services during the execution of the work.
The firm did not reveal the financial details of the contract.
The Ichthys project produces LNG at the 8.9 mtpa plant at Bladin Point near Darwin. The facility shipped in October its 300th cargo since start of operations in 2018.
Natural gas arrives in Darwin from the giant Ichthys field offshore Western Australia via an 890-kilometre export pipeline.
Ichthys is a joint venture between operator Inpex and major partner France’s Total. Other partners include Australian units of CPC Corporation Taiwan, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas.
