Wison, MAN ink floating LNG-to-power pact

China’s Wison Offshore and Marine is joining forces with Germany’s MAN Energy Solutions to work on floating LNG-to-power projects.

In that regard, the duo signed a memorandum of understanding on November 5, Wison said in a statement on Thursday.

The firm said the strategic collaboration would include power barge and floating LNG-to-power projects worldwide.

Both parties have experience in power barges and floating power generation solutions.

This cooperation between the duo would complement each company’s strengths in technology and application, Wison said.

Wison said earlier this year it had started building China’s first floating LNG-to-power project.

According to Wison, the floating LNG-to-power project would consist of a floating regasification unit (FSRU) and a 240MW combined cycle power barge.

The firm received approval in principle in 2018 from classification society Lloyds Register for a 300MW floating storage regasification and power generation barge (FSRP).

Moreover, Wison said the FSRP could produce power starting as low as 7 cents per kWh.

With a total storage capacity of 170,000 cbm in GTT membrane cargo tanks, the facility also features a CCGT power plant, available with an output of 150 – 450MW, it said.
