GasLog to take delivery of 1st Cheniere-chartered vessel

Greece-based GasLog is set to take delivery of a 174,000-cbm newbuild it chartered to US LNG exporter Cheniere.

The vessel GasLog Georgetown started its sea trials off South Korea on September 14. The Greek firm expects to take delivery of the ship next month.

Equipped with WinGD’s dual-fuel propulsion, the LNG carrier also features GTT’s Mark III Flex Plus containment system.

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy started building the vessel with a working name of Hull No. 2300 in May last year and launched it this March.

The Korean shipbuilding giant is constructing in total four X-DF vessels for GasLog that will go on long-term charter to Cheniere’s marketing unit.

Gaslog Georgetown’s sister vessel GasLog Galveston should be ready for work by the end of this year.

The two other vessels chartered to Cheniere will have a capacity of 180,000 cbm and will join GasLog’s fleet during 2021.
