Second Calcasieu Pass LNG cargo lands at UK’s South Hook terminal

The 174,000-cbm Vivirt City LNG has delivered the second cargo produced at Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass plant in Louisiana to the UK’s South Hook LNG terminal.

According to shipping data by the Milford Haven port, the 2021-built Vivirt City LNG, owned by H-Line and chartered by trader Vitol, arrived at the facility on Tuesday.

The vessel should depart from the LNG terminal owned by QatarEnergy, ExxonMobil, and TotalEnergies on Wednesday.

Vivirt City LNG left the Calcasieu Pass facility with the terminal’s second cargo on March 9.

On the other side, the 174,000-cbm LNG carrier Yiannis recently delivered the first cargo produced at the plant to France’s Dunkirk LNG terminal.

In addition, the 2019-built, 180,000-cbm Nohshu Maru, owned by MOL and chartered by Jera Global Markets, took the third cargo and departed from the terminal last week.

The vessel previously signaled Northwestern Europe as its final destination. However, it changed its course and was late on Tuesday located offshore Colon, near the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal, its AIS data shows.

Once completed, Calcasieu Pass will produce about 10 mtpa of LNG from 18 modular units configured in 9 blocks. The plant is the seventh large LNG export facility in the US.

Calcasieu Pass has contracts with Shell, BP, Edison, Galp, Repsol, PGNiG, Sinopec’s unit Unipec, as well as CNOOC.

Besides this plant, Venture Global also expects to take a final investment decision on its Plaquemines project “soon”, following a deal with compatriot New Fortress Energy.

The first phase of the Plaquemines LNG project includes a capacity of 10 mtpa while the full project would have 20 mtpa capacity, four tanks, and three jetties.
