New York-listed Capital Product Partners said it has purchased one 174,000-cbm newbuild liquefied natural gas carrier from its sponsor Capital Maritime & Trading Corp, boosting its fleet to seven LNG tankers.
The partnership said in a statement it has agreed to exercise its right of first offer and buy the X-DF LNG carrier Asterix I from Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Maritime & Trading.
Such as the first six LNG carriers which joined CPLP last year, Capital Gas, also owned by Evangelos Marinakis, manages the new LNG carrier as well.
South Korea’s Hyundai Samho would deliver this newbuild in January 2023, the partnership said.
The LNG carrier comes with a long-term time charter with Hartree Partners Power & Gas Company (UK) for a firm period of 5 years, which, together with the optional period, expires in 2031, it said.
CPLP bought this carrier along three 13,278-teu container vessels for a total price of $597.5 million.
