China Merchants Jinling launches another Swedish LNG-powered tanker

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard has launched the eighth and the final LNG-powered vessel ordered by Sweden’s Gothia Tanker Alliance.

The yard held a launching ceremony on December 10.

Swedish shipowner Furetank, a member of the alliance, will commercially manage the vessel named Fure Viten.

The alliance members ordered in total eight dual-fueled product and chemical tankers at the yard previously known as AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding.

Besides Furetank, the vessel owners include Alvtank and Thun Tankers. Alvtank received the sixth ship out of this batch back in September 2019 while Furetank also received the previous one.

The 16,300 dwt medium-sized tankers feature Wartsila LNG propulsion and battery backup as well.

Each of the FKAB-designed ice class ships is 149 meters long and 22.8 meters wide.
