Eddie Steamship buys BW’s LNG carrier

Taiwan-based Eddie Steamship has recently purchased a 2003-built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from a unit of Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW, according to brokers.

The vessel in question is the 138,000-cbm BW Everett, previously known as BW GDF Suez Everett.

According to reports by Intermodal and other brokers, Eddie Steamship purchased the steam LNG carrier for $45 million.

Intermodal says the delivery of the vessel would take place in June.

Its AIS data provided by VesselValue shows that the vessel is expected to arrive at Thailand’s Map Ta Phut LNG terminal on May 21. It previously loaded a cargo at the Oman LNG plant in Qalhat.

VesselsValue’s data says that, BW Pavilion LNG, a joint venture of BW LNG and Temasek’s Pavilion sold the LNG carrier to Eddie Steamship.

BW LNG owns 51 percent in the joint venture which was formed in 2014 and the joint venture’s fleet includes two Singapore-flagged LNG carriers, BW Pavilion Vanda and BW Pavilion Leeara.

Pavilion also chartered BW Pavilion Aranthera and BW Pavilion Aranda from BW LNG.

BW’s website shows that the firm has eleven steam LNG carriers in its fleet and BW Everett is the oldest along the 138,000-cbm BW Boston.

On the other hand, Eddie Steamship operates bulkers and has no LNG carriers in its fleet.

In 2020, Eddie Steamship became a joint venture partner with China’s Shandong Shipping Group in the establishment of Shandong Shipping Asset Management of Hong Kong, its website shows.
