According to a statement by WNE, previously known as Wison Offshore & Marine, the company signed the FEED contract with Ace Gas & FLNG for the 3 mtpa FLNG and 230MW power barge project on December 6.
WNE successfully completed the pre-FEED of this project in early 2024.
In January this year, the Chinese firm said the design validation and pre-FEED phase for two 3 mtpa FLNG projects of Ace Gas and FLNG, and Transoceanic Gas and Power had officially started.
Ace Gas & FLNG is a member of Cratos/Transoceanic Energy Group.
WNE said the project aims to develop an FLNG with a production capacity of about 3 mtpa liquefaction capacity, planned to be moored about 10 kilometers offshore in waters with a depth of about 20 meters, receiving and processing up to 500MMscfd gas daily.
The liquefaction technology will be using Chart’s IPSMR technology.
According to WNE, this mature solution will ensure the efficient operation of the project.
In addition, a stream of natural gas will be delivered from FLNG to the 230 MW power barge for power generation and for the supply of electricity to Ace Gas & LNG operated gas assets and gas processing facilities within the Escravos and Forcados hub.
“We are confident that the FEED study will streamline the project development, providing a comprehensive overview of the project’s technical and economic feasibility, and thus build a solid foundation for the next EPCIC stage,” WNE said.
WNE’s FLNG projects
WNE is working on several FLNG projects.
In June this year, the company secured a contract from a unit of Genting to build a floating LNG unit worth about $1 billion.
Following completion in 2026, the 1.2 mtpa FLNG will work in Indonesia.
This is Wison’s third FLNG contract, after contracts with Exmar and Eni.
The firm recently launched the hull of Eni’s Congo FLNG at its yard in Nantong, China. Eni will name the FLNG Nguya.
WNE won a contract from Italy’s Eni in December 2022 to build a 380 meters long 2.4 mtpa FLNG and officially started work on the project in January last year.
Earlier this year, WNE also completed the installation of all four SPB LNG tanks and two LPG tanks on Eni’s Congo FLNG.
Besides these projects, Papua New Guinea’s national oil and gas company Kumul Petroleum recently awarded a pre-FEED contract to WNE for Papua New Guinea’s first FLNG project.
With an expected capacity of 1.5 mtpa, Papua New Guinea’s first FLNG is planned to be deployed to the Gulf of Papua.
