The DOE LNG monthly report shows that US terminals shipped 51.9 Bcf to the Netherlands (10.3 percent), 51.5 Bcf to France (10.2 percent), 39.3 Bcf to Spain (7.8 percent), 39.2 Bcf to Belgium (7.8 percent), and 36.3 Bcf to Egypt (7.2 percent) in October.
These five countries took 43.4 percent of total US LNG exports in October.
Before this, the Netherlands was the top destination for US LNG cargoes in September and August, and Egypt was the top destination in July for the first time in DOE’s LNG monthly reports.
The Netherlands was the top destination for US LNG supplies in June and May, Spain was the top destination in April, France was the top destination in March, while LNG import terminals in Turkiye and the UK were the top destinations for US LNG cargoes in January and February 2025.
DOE’s data previously showed that the Netherlands was the top destination for US LNG supplies in 2024 with 463.8 Bcf or 139 cargoes, down by 21 percent year-on-year, while France took 354.8 Bcf or 108 cargoes, down by 28 percent year-on-year.
October LNG exports up
The DOE report shows that the US exported 503.1 Bcf of LNG to 31 countries in October, up 33.7 percent from the same month in 2024 and a rise of 11.4 percent compared to the prior month.
This quantity is approximately 10.5 million metric tons of LNG.
In September 2024, Europe again became the preferred destination for US LNG cargoes over Asia, and this remained the case to date.
Europe received 350.6 Bcf (69.7 percent), Asia 96.4 Bcf (19.2 percent), Africa 38.4 Bcf (7.4 percent), and Latin America/Caribbean 17.7 Bcf (3.5 percent) in October.
DOE said that 91.6 percent of total LNG exports went to non-free trade agreement countries, while the remaining 8.4 percent went to free trade agreement countries.
Moreover, US terminals shipped 154 LNG cargoes in September, a rise compared to 135 LNG cargoes in September.
Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant sent 40 cargoes, and its Corpus Christi terminal shipped 22 cargoes, while Venture Global’s Plaquemines plant shipped 30 cargoes and the Freeport LNG terminal shipped 24 cargoes.
Sempra’s Cameron LNG terminal shipped 19 cargoes, while Venture Global’s Calcasieu plant sent 11 cargoes.
In addition, the Cove Point LNG terminal sent five cargoes and the Elba Island plant shipped two cargoes during the month under review.
DOE noted that NFE’s Altamira LNG terminal in Mexico shipped one cargo in October. This project receives feed gas from the US and Mexico.
Average price at 7.07/MMBtu
According to DOE’s report, the average price by export terminal reached 7.07/MMBtu in October.
This compares to 6.61/MMBtu in October 2024 and 6.83/MMBtu in September 2025.
The highest average price in October was recorded at Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG terminal, which reached $9.93/MMBtu.
Prices at other facilities ranged between $8.26/MMBtu (Altamira) to $3.34/MMBtu (Elba Island), the data shows.
8,426 cargoes
The report said that from February 2016 through October 2025, the US exported 8,426 cargoes or 26,714.4 Bcf to 44 countries.
The DOE data shows that South Korea remains the top destination for US LNG, with 727 cargoes, followed by the Netherlands with 690 cargoes, France with 700 cargoes, Japan with 612 cargoes, and the UK with 582 cargoes.
France took more cargoes but fewer volumes than the Netherlands.
In addition to these five countries, Spain, China, India, Turkiye, and Italy are in the top ten.
