Enbridge says to deliver natural gas to Venture Global’s Plaquemines LNG plant

Canadian pipeline operator Enbridge said it would deliver natural gas to the first phase of Venture Global LNG’s Plaquemines LNG export plant in Louisiana.

US player Venture Global announced on Wednesday it has taken a final investment decision for the 13.33 mtpa project and the related pipeline after it secured $13.2 billion in project financing.

This is the first LNG project located in the US to reach financial close since Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass facility in August 2019.

Enbridge said in a statement on Thursday that its Venice Extension Project and Gator Express Meter Project would deliver 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas to the Plaquemines LNG facility in Plaquemines Parish.

The projects generally will involve 36-inch diameter pipe, metering, and compressor station additions and improvements.

Enbridge expects to launch the Gator Express Meter Project in 2023, followed by the Venice Extension Project in 2024.

Underpinned by long-term take or pay contracts, both of the projects have a price tag of about $400 million, according to Enbridge.
