KBR and Tecnicas Reunidas win Coastal Bend LNG FEED job

Coastal Bend LNG has selected US-based KBR and Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of its planned 22.5 mtpa LNG export facility on the Texas Gulf Coast.

KBR and Tecnicas Reunidas will collaborate to execute the FEED for multiple large-scale trains with a design utilizing ConocoPhillips’ optimized cascade process, Coastal Bend LNG said in a statement on Monday.

Upon positive final investment decision, KBR and Tecnicas Reunidas will proceed to execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase of the project, it said.

Coastal Bend LNG did not provide further details.

Last year, the Houston-based privately held energy infrastructure development company initiated development of a 22.5 million ton per annum (mtpa) natural gas liquefaction and export facility on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Besides selecting ConocoPhillips’ optimized cascade process technology, Coastal Bend LNG also announced it will explore the use of Honeywell’s modular LNG pretreatment solutions.

Its planned development will include up to five 4.5 mtpa liquefaction trains, cogeneration, LNG storage tanks, and export facilities for shipping, bunkering, and ISO containers.

Moreover, Coastal Bend LNG plans to integrate carbon capture, transport, and storage into its facilities to deliver low-carbon intensity natural gas sourced from US onshore basins.

The US LNG developer also selected Envana to tokenize the well-to-water carbon intensity of LNG in alignment with the international Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) framework.
