Lipigas launches LNG fueling station in Chile

Chile’s Lipigas said it had launched a liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling station for trucks in cooperation with Transvina.

This new station in Tabolango, Valparaiso region, will initially supply LNG to 17 Transvina trucks but it will also be available for trucks from other companies, according to a statement by Lipigas.

Spain’s HAM said in May this year that its unit had won a contract to design, construct, and commission this new LNG fueling station together with Lipigas.

This followed the opening of the Chile’s first such facility in Linares in September last year.

HAM also built this facility owned by Lipigas but this station is not open to the public, according to the latter.

Besides these fueling facilities, HAM, CycleØ, and Lipgas will build what they say is the first bio-LNG production plant in Chile.

The LNG plant in the Nuble region will have a capacity to process between 7,500 cbm and 16,500 cbm of biogas per day.

Lipigas said the facility would cost about $8 million and the firm expects the plant to go online in the first quarter of 2024.
