Nimofast announced in a statement on Wednesday the launch of the GreenTech Integrated Logistics project, which it says is Brazil’s largest heavy-duty trucking platform powered by LNG.
Through Interconecta Logística, the partners are building a nationwide long-haul transportation network that replaces diesel with LNG — delivering lower operating costs, a smaller environmental footprint, and price predictability for shippers, according to the firm.
The project brings together strategic partners such as Edge (Compass) for LNG and biomethane supply and Green Cargo / JAC Motors for heavy-duty gas-powered trucks.
Operations, investment, and management are led by Nimofast.
Nimofast noted that the implementation of the project will take place gradually.
The kickoff is expected in 2026, with the delivery of 60 LNG-powered JAC Motors Q7 trucks (560 hp, 6×4 traction).
In the first quarter of 2027, the fleet will grow to 160 vehicles, with the goal of reaching 2,000 trucks in operation within 24 months, according to Nimofast.
To make the operation viable, the project provides for commitments of 8 billion Brazilian reais ($1.54 billion) over 10 years, covering equipment acquisition, leasing, fuel, and operation — all supported by long-term gas supply and freight contracts, Nimofast said.
With a 10-year supply contract, Edge will deliver LNG through an integrated solution, originating from the Santos LNG regasification terminal (TRSP) and off-grid distribution via road transport, it said.
“The great differentiator of the agreement is the incorporation of attribute-certified biomethane, produced at Onebio — a plant controlled by Edge in Paulínia (SP) and considered the largest biomethane purification unit in the country,” Nimofast said.
The combination of the physical delivery of LNG with a percentage of biomethane represents a “leap in the modernization of heavy fleet refueling in Brazil,” it said.
