EIA said in its weekly natural gas storage report that the LNG-carrying capacity of vessels departing US ports was 128 Bcf, down 13 Bcf from the previous week.
The agency said that vessel departures declined amid liquefaction plant and pipeline maintenance activities that restricted output at some US terminals.
Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant shipped eight LNG cargoes, and the company’s Corpus Christi facility sent six shipments during the week ending May 20, according to the report.
Moreover, Venture Global LNG’s Plaquemines terminal sent seven cargoes, Sempra Infrastructure’s Cameron LNG terminal shipped four cargoes, while Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass facility and the Freeport LNG facility each sent three cargoes.
The Cove Point facility shipped two cargoes and the Elba Island facility sent one cargo during the week under review.
Henry Hub climbs
EIA reported that the Henry Hub spot price rose by 31 cents from $2.88/MMBtu last Wednesday to $3.19/MMBtu this Wednesday.
According to the agency, this week, Henry Hub prices were among the highest in the country as temperatures remained elevated compared with other regions.
EIA said temperatures across most of the United States were slightly above average this week.
Total US natural gas consumption decreased by 0.9 Bcf/d (1 percent) compared with last week, according to LSEG data.
This decrease was due to a 1.6 Bcf/d (14 percent) drop in the residential and commercial sectors, which outweighed a 1.0 Bcf/d (3 percent) increase from the electric power sector.
Total US natural gas supply also fell slightly by 0.2 Bcf/d (less than 1 percent), according to data from LSEG, due to a small reduction in net Canadian imports into the United States.
TTF averaged $17.01/MMBtu
EIA said that the price at the Dutch Title Transfer Facility in Europe averaged $17.01/MMBtu, $1.33/MMBtu higher than the previous week.
Moreover, the Japan-Korea Marker price averaged $18.33/MMBtu, $1.40/MMBtu higher than the previous week.
Compared with the week ending February 25 (before LNG deliveries via the Strait of Hormuz were disrupted), this week’s TTF and JKM prices are up by 55 percent and 72 percent, respectively, EIA said.
