AET, a unit of Malaysia’s MISC, and Singapore-based shipowner Singfar have signed a long-term charter deal for two LNG dual-fuel Aframax tankers.
Singapore-based AET said on Wednesday that the deal is part of its fleet rejuvenation efforts.
“By adding these two eco-efficient vessels on long-term charter to our fleet from end 2027, they will bring AET closer towards our 2030 target of 40 percent GHG emissions reduction (from 2008 baseline) and the MISC Group’s ambition of net-zero by 2050,” AET’s president and CEO, Zahid Osman, said.
AET did not provide any additional information regarding the charter deal or the vessels.
According to the images posted by the firm, China’s New Times Shipyard will build these two LNG-powered crude tankers.
There were recent reports by brokers on Singfar ordering two LNG dual-fuel Aframax tankers for delivery in 2027.
AET already has LNG-powered vessels in its fleet and in January it held a naming ceremony for the LNG dual-fuel very large crude carrier, Eagle Veracruz.
This is the third and final LNG-powered VLCC AET chartered to a unit of LNG giant Shell.
