CMA CGM welcomes fourth LNG-powered ULCV

French shipping group CMA CGM has added another ultra large LNG-powered containership to its fleet as it looks to comply with the new IMO standards and slash emissions.

China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Jiangnan Shipyard hosted a naming and delivery ceremony for the CMA CGM Louvre on December 22.

To remind, LNG Prime reported on this delivery earlier this week.

This is the second 23,000 TEU ULCV for Jiangnan that also built the CMA CGM Champs Elysees, but in total it is the fourth LNG-powered giant for the French firm.

These vessels are the world’s largest LNG-powered ships.

Jiangnan and Hudong-Zhonghua, both owned by CSSC, are building in total nine LNG-powered sister vessels for the French group.

Hudong is building five vessels while Jiangnan Shipyard is constructing four ships from this batch.

Additionally, Hudong plans to deliver the fifth ULCV, CMA CGM Rivoli, in January.

Like its sister vessels, CMA CGM Louvre will work on the Europe-Asia route.

The ship will depart to Europe on December 27, according to Jiangnan.
