The shipping firm announced the new milestone in a social media post on Friday.
“We are proud to mark our 500th ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation with CMA CGM Bali at FOS, France — a major step in our decarbonisation journey since our first LNG bunkering in 2020,” the company said.
EPS said this milestone was made possible through close collaboration with French energy giant TotalEnergies, whose chartered LNG bunkering vessel, Gas Vitality, supplied the marine LNG for this operation.
EPS completed its first LNG bunkering operation in November 2020, the 50th operation in September 2022, the 100th operation in June 2023, the 250th operation last year, the 400th operation earlier this year, and the 450th operation in September.
The company has a large fleet of LNG-powered vessels, including containerships, tankers, bulkers, and PCTCs.
“At a time when LNG was still gaining ground, EPS took early steps to adopt LNG dual-fuel technology, guided by the principle of not letting the perfect be an enemy of good,” the company said.
“Those early investments have helped shape our fleet of 137 LNG dual-fuel vessels today, reinforcing our long-term commitment to cleaner shipping,” EPS said.
