GTT clinches LNG tank gig from Hyundai Heavy

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured a new order from South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to design tanks for two LNG carriers.

According to a GTT statement, the 200,000-cbm LNG carriers will feature its Mark III Flex+ membrane containment system.

GTT added that HHI plans to deliver the vessels between the second and fourth quarters of 2027 to a European owner, but it did not provide any additional information.

This order is probably related to a recent announcement by HHI’s parent HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

KSOE announced orders for six LNG carriers worth abut $1.6 billion, including for two 200,000-cbm vessels scheduled for delivery by November 2027.

These two ships are worth 742.3 billion won ($555 million) or about $277.5 million per vessel

Shipbuilding sources and brokers said that Greece’s Dynagas has ordered the two LNG carriers.

Earlier this year, Dynagas also ordered three 200,000-cbm LNG carriers at HHI for about $261 million per vessel.
