GTT clinches new LNG tank gig

France’s GTT has secured a new tank design order from HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering for one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.

GTT received the order in the second quarter of 2025.

The LNG containment giant stated in a press release that HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries will construct the LNG carrier for London-based Purus.

As part of this order, GTT will design the vessel’s cryogenic tanks, which will have a total capacity of 180,000 cbm.

The tanks will be fitted with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT added that delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.

Purus recently confirmed that it has ordered one 180,000-cbm LNG carrier in South Korea.

In April, HD Hyundai Samho secured an order to build one LNG carrier for about $262 million.

HD Hyundai Samho’s parent, HD KSOE, said at the time that the shipbuilder will build the vessel for an unidentified owner in Asia and deliver it by December 2027.

GTT received orders for nine LNG carriers, seven very large ethane carriers, and 12 LNG-powered containerships in the first quarter.

Last year, the firm booked orders for 72 LNG carriers.
