Hudong-Zhonghua delivers LNG carrier duo to K Line and Petronas

Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered two 174,000-cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to Japan’s K Line and Malaysia’s Petronas.

Japan’s shipping giant K Line announced the delivery of Puteri Johor and Puteri Kedah in a statement on Wednesday.

Hudong-Zhonghua handed over Puteri Johor on May 29 and its sister vessel, Puteri Kedah, on June 30.

A naming ceremony for both of the 299-meter-long X-DF vessels was held at the Chinese shipyard on April 30.

K Line noted that “Puteri” means princess in Malay. “Johor” is Malaysia’s southernmost state, while “Kedah” is located in the northwestern part of Malaysia.x

Both vessels are owned by K Line joint venture companies.

“The delivery of these two new vessels is set to strengthen Petronas LNG’s fleet and support the reliable delivery of LNG to PLL’s customers,” K Line said.

K Line has a large fleet of LNG carriers.

The firm previously confirmed that it is on track to have 65 LNG carriers in its fleet by fiscal 2026.
