Jera Global Markets names new LNG chief

Jera Global Markets said it has hired Jonathan Westby as senior vice president for LNG following the departure of Sarah Behbehani in May last year.

Westby previously worked for UK-based utility Centrica, where he was the co-managing director of energy marketing and trading unit but also global LNG head.

Before joining Centrica in 2014, he spent 20 years with BP, where he also led the energy firm’s LNG trading business.

Jeragm CEO Kazunori Kasai said Westby “brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and LNG specific experience which will be an asset as we continue to expand our successful business in LNG.”

To remind, the trader announced in May last year Behbehani would leave the firm to focus on personal matters while Justin Rowland, Jeragm managing director LNG, took over the LNG business in the interim.

Jeragm is a Singapore-based joint venture consisting of Japanese LNG buying giant Jera, which is the major shareholder, and EDF Trading, a unit of French utility EDF.
