Chiyoda announced on Wednesday that it has been awarded the FEED) contract by QatarEnergy LNG.
The NFW project is QatarEnergy’s third expansion of LNG production from North Field, which will increase Qatar’s LNG production capacity to 142 mtpa upon project completion.
Chiyoda did not provide further information.
QatarEnergy is working on the giant North Field LNG expansion program, which includes the North Field South, North Field East, and North Field West projects.
Together, these will raise Qatar’s LNG production capacity in Ras Laffan from the current 77 mtpa to 142 mtpa in 2030.
In February 2024, QatarEnergy announced the North Field West project, which will add 16 mtpa of LNG to the overall expansion of the North Field.
The first two projects include six mega trains, each with a production capacity of 8 mtpa of LNG.
Four of these are part of the North Field East expansion project, and two are part of the North Field South expansion project.
In February 2021, Technip Energies, in a joint venture with Chiyoda, won the contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the onshore facilities of the NFE project.
Besides this project, QatarEnergy has awarded the $10 billion engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the NFS project to a joint venture of Technip Energies and Consolidated Contractors Company.
