RPGCL issues fresh spot LNG cargo tender

Bangladesh's Rupantarita Prakritik Gas (RPGCL), a unit of state-owned Petrobangla, has issued a new tender for spot LNG shipments.

RPGCL said in a tender document on Wednesday that the delivery windows are May 30-31, June 26-27, and July 2-3.

RPGCL issued the tender to the 23 organizations that have signed the MSPA (master sale and purchase agreement) with Petrobangla.

The tender will close on May 4.

Before this tender, RGPCL invited bids on April 22 for three spot LNG cargoes with deliveries during May 22-23, June 5-6, and June 19-20.

According to local media reports, Bangladesh approved the purchase of three spot LNG cargoes this week.

In addition, Petobangla reportedly paid $32 million to QatarEnergy LNG, a unit of state-owned QatarEnergy, to clear all outstanding import bills.

Qatar is the largest LNG supplier to Bangladesh.

Bangladesh currently imports LNG via two FSRU-based facilities, both of which feature Excelerate Energy’s FSRUs.

The 138,000-cbm FSRU Excellence serves Bangladesh’s first LNG import facility, Moheshkhali Floating LNG or MLNG, operated by Petrobangla.

Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Summit LNG serves as the second LNG import facility operated by Summit.
