Samsung Heavy launches GasLog LNG newbuild

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries has launched a 180,000 cbm LNG newbuild for Greece-based owner GasLog.

GasLog says the yard in Geoje held the launching event of SN2312 to be named GasLog Winchester on January 16.

Equipped with WinGD’s dual-fuel propulsion, the vessel also features GTT’s Mark III Flex Plus containment system.

The Greek owner expects the new LNG carrier to join its fleet in August this year.

Moreover, the X-DF vessel is the last in a series of four newbuilds GasLog chartered to US LNG exporter Cheniere.

The quartet Samsung is building for GasLog includes two 174,000 cbm and two 180,000 cbm vessels but the Korean yard already delivered two ships in this batch.

These include the 174,000-cbm GasLog Georgetown and the recent delivery of GasLog Galveston.

Additionally, the Korean yard launched the third carrier, the 180,000-cbm GasLog Wellington, on October 24. GasLog previously said it expects to take the delivery of this vessel on June 15.
