TGE building new Chinese LNG import project

Germany-based TGE Gas Engineering, a unit of China’s CIMC, said it has secured a new EPC contract for the Yangjiang LNG peak shaving storage project in China’s Guangdong province.

TGE said in a statement it won the contract from Guangdong Yanjiang Hailing Bay LNG as part of a consortium with China Chengda Engineering.

This contract for TGE in China follows a deal with Guangdong Huizhou LNG, a unit of state-owned power utility Guangdong Energy, which includes the construction of three storage tanks.

According to TGE, this new project located in Yangjiang includes the construction of two 160,000-cbm full containment LNG storage tanks, as well as an LNG jetty, sea water drainage system, 12 LNG truck loading stations, gasification facilities, and other auxiliary facilities.

The facility would have an annual processing capacity of 2.8 million tons, while it ultimately could reach 6 million tons/year.

TGE said that the LNG tank piling works have already started on September 30, 2021.

The firm did not provide the price tag of the contract or any additional information.

Singapore-based Pacific Energy, previously known as Pacific Oil & Gas, said in August 2019 that a foundation stone laying ceremony for the Yangjiang LNG peak shaving storage project was held.

The firm said it had established a 50/50 partnership with Guangdong Yudean Natural Gas, a unit of Guangdong Energy, to build the facility.

According to Pacific Energy, the project should go online in 2024.
