LGM Engineering wins order for Himalaya Shipping’s LNG bulkers

China’s Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (LGM Engineering) said it would supply liquefied natural gas fuel systems for Himalaya Shipping’s LNG-powered bulk carriers.

Himalaya Shipping is a new venture of Norwegian businessman and investor, Tor Olav Trøim, who is also the chairman of Golar LNG.

The firm has previously ordered up to twelve 208,000-dwt LNG-powered Newcastlemax ships at China’s New Times Shipbuilding.

LGM Engineering said in a statement it has secured the contract from New Times in June, but it did not reveal the price tag of the deal.

The Chinese firm said it would design and supply LNG fuel supply systems for twelve DNV-classed bulk carriers.

Moreover, the complete system delivered by LGM Engineering includes the bunkering station, tank monitoring system, and high-pressure pump skid.

It also includes high-pressure fuel gas supply skid, ESD system, LNG system main control and safety system control cabinet, as well as installation guidance, commission and crew training, LGM Engineering said.

Himalaya Shipping’s vessels will also feature MAN ME-GI engines, according to LGM Engineering.

The firm added it would start delivering the equipment to New Times in September 2022.
