Nigeria LNG inks domestic supply deals

Nigeria LNG, the operator of the 22 mtpa Bonny Island plant, said it has signed sales and purchase agreements with three local firms.

Under the deals, Nigeria LNG said it would supply in total 1.1 million tonnes per annum of LNG to Asiko Power, Bridport Energy but also Gas-Plus Synergy.

Tony Attah, chief executive of Nigeria LNG said the deals would facilitate the project execution and development of infrastructure led by off-takers to aid LNG delivery into the domestic market.

In addition to the domestic LNG scheme, “we have the ongoing Train 7 project with capacity to attract about $10 billion in foreign direct investment,” he said.

The new unit would boost the plant’s capacity to 30 mtpa in total.

Moreover, Attah added that Nigeria LNG is also looking to expand the LPG value chain by increasing its supply to the domestic market.

The joint venture behind the six-train LNG plant includes NNPC (49%), Shell (25.6%), Total (15%) and Eni (10.4%).
