Russia’s Gazprom re-elects Miller as CEO

Alexei Miller will continue to lead Russian gas giant Gazprom following a decision revealed on Wednesday.

Gazprom’s board “unanimously resolved to re-elect Alexei Miller as chairman of the management committee for a 5-year term, starting from May 31, 2021,” the Russian firm said in a short statement.

Miller has been at the helm of state-owned Gazprom since 2001.

Gazprom is one of the world’s leading gas producers and accounts for about 12 percent of the global gas output and 68 percent of Russian gas production.

The firm also produces and exports LNG via its Sakhalin project but it also plans the Ust-Luga liquefied natural gas and chemical project.
