Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz, a unit of state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding, is seeking a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo for delivery at the end of June.
According to tender documents posted by Bulgargaz on its website, the quantity offered shall not be less than 1 TWh (3,400,000 MMBtu) or 1 cargo.
The delivery window is June 24-June 25.
Bulgargaz is seeking the cargo on a DES basis and the shipment will be delivered to LNG terminals in Turkiye.
The firm said the LNG supplies must come from countries without sanctions, embargoes, or any trade restrictions.
“The offered price shall reference the TTF front month (Argus) or TTF MA (ICIS) for the month in which the delivery window falls in euro per MWh and shall include all delivery costs to an LNG terminal in Turkey,” it said.
The deadline for pre-selection of candidates is May 9, while the deadline for submission of binding offers is May 13.
Deliveries via Turkey and Greece
Prior to this tender, Bulgargaz also launched a tender in March seeking one LNG cargo for delivery on May 18, 2024 to the FSRU-based Alexandroupolis terminal in Greece, or an LNG terminal in Turkiye.
Bulgargaz previously booked capacity at Gastrade’s FSRU-based LNG import project in Alexandroupolis, which is currently working to launch commercial operations.
Gastrade said this week it has postponed the launch of commercial operations due to a “technical issue”, saying that the company will advise on a new COD (commercial operation date) “soon”.
Bulgartransgaz has a 20 percent in the LNG import project.
In January this year, Bulgargaz selected a unit of French energy giant TotalEnergies to supply one LNG cargo in March via Greece’s Revithoussa LNG import terminal.
In October 2023, TotalEnergies Gas and Power also won a tender to supply two LNG cargoes to Bulgargaz in January and February this year via LNG terminals in Turkey.
Prior to that, US LNG exporting giant Cheniere delivered the first cargo to Bulgargaz to the Marmara Ereglisi onshore terminal in Turkey as part of the latter’s deal with Botas.
Botas and Bulgargaz signed the deal in January 2023, allowing Bulgargaz access to Turkish LNG import terminals and the grid.
The duration of the agreement is 13 years and includes a gas transfer of up to 1.5 billion cubic meters per year.
