Gasum delivers bio-LNG to Donsotank’s tanker off Gothenburg

Finland’s Gasum said it has for the first time delivered a blend of liquefied natural gas and bio-LNG to Donsotank’s hybrid tanker Prospero off Sweden’s Gothenburg.

According to a social media post by Gasum, the ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation took place on June 16.

Gasum used its chartered 5,800-cbm LNG bunkering vessel, Coralius, for the LNG and bio-LNG delivery to Prospero.

The firm said that the renewable and ISCC-certified part of the delivery was about 25 percent of the total volume.

Gasum did not provide additional information.

To remind, Swedish privately-owned shipping firm Donsotank took delivery of this LNG-powered product and chemical tanker from China’s Wuhu yard in December.

Donsotank recently also welcomed the 22,000-dwt hybrid tanker, Pacifico, the sister ship to Prospero.

Designed by FKAB, both of the ice-class 1A ships have Wartsila LNG propulsion but Wuhu also equipped them with a battery pack.

In addition, the 167.3 meters long vessels feature an F-Bow design hull optimized to withstand harsh weather conditions.
