Himalaya converts charters for LNG-powered bulker duo

Himalaya Shipping has converted the index-linked charters to fixed rate time charters for two of its LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers.

According to a statement by Himalaya on Wednesday, the charter deals were converted at an average rate of $38,700 per day, gross, from October 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

In addition, the two vessels will continue to earn scrubber benefits according to the terms of the existing time charter agreements.

Following the conversion, the company will have the following average rates fixed for vessels that were previously on index-linked charters.

From September 1 to September 30, six vessels will be chartered at an average of approximately $34,000 per day, gross, while from October 1 to December 31, four vessels will be chartered at an average of approximately $35,200 per day, gross.
