Lithuania’s Klaipedos Nafta, the state-owned operator of the country’s first LNG import facility, is planning to offer to the market to book long-term capacity at the 170,000-cbm FSRU Independence.
Last month, Lithuania said it has completely abandoned imports of Russian gas and would satisfy the country’s entire gas demand via the FSRU-based LNG import facility in the port of Klaipeda.
Also, KN’s customers have fully booked the LNG terminal’s regasification capacity for this gas year ending September 30, and FSRU Independence would receive 20 large LNG cargoes in the March-September period.
Now the firm is inviting market participants to book capacities for the period from October 1 to December 31, 2022.
KN said in a statement on Monday it would offer a total of 9,66 TWh LNG capacities during the procedure and applications must be submitted until May 17.
Later this year, KN plans to offer the market the possibility to book long-term capacity at the LNG terminal, which would be available from January 1, 2023, for a period of five or ten years, it said.
Also, the firm said it has submitted the relevant amendments to the regulations for the use of the LNG terminal for market consultation.
“One of the technical changes we will follow next year will align the so-called gas year with the calendar year. That is why we are currently initiating capacity allocation for a relatively short period of three months,” Jurgita Šilinskaitė-Venslovienė, head of KN LNG commerce, said.
“Already in June, we will invite customers to assess the long-term capacity needs of the LNG terminal, for which we are currently making the final preparations,” she said.
