Berlin-based Liquind has added another LNG filling station for trucks to the firm’s portfolio as it continues to expand its network in Germany.
The new Chart Industries-supplied station is located in Strullendorf in the district of Bamberg.
According to its website, Liquind is currently developing twenty-three LNG truck filling stations in Germany as fleet owners increasingly opt for the fuel to cut costs and slash emissions.
A recent report by German consultancy Team Consult says Germany had 43 LNG filling stations by the end of 2020. This compares to just four in April 2019.
In addition, the report claims that three operators out of 21 own more than half of these stations.
Liquind and Shell are currently the largest station owners in the country with a 21 percent and a 19 percent share out of the total while GasCom’s share stands at 11 percent, the report said. Shell previously said it plans to have a station network of 35-40 facilities in the country by 2022.
The report also said that Germany should have around 88 operational LNG filling stations by the end of this year.
For comparison, there were 353 LNG filling stations in operation across Europe as of last month, according to the report.
