Uniper’s Liqvis adds another German LNG fueling station

Uniper’s unit Liqvis has opened its eleventh LNG fueling station in Germany to cater to the increasing demand for the fuel in road transport.

The new LNG filling station is located near Salzbergen and 28 km from the Dutch border, according to a Liqvis statement on Monday.

This station with two dispensers complements the firm’s growing LNG network in Germany but also in France.

It was built in cooperation with Dutch cryogenic tech firm Cryonorm.

According to its website, Liqvis has eleven operational LNG filling stations in Germany and two in France. Prior to this facility, it launched a station near the eastern German city of Leipzig.

The market for LNG as a truck fuel is growing rapidly in Germany as owners look to slash emissions but also a road tax exemption for such vehicles.

Earlier this year, Liqvis and Cryonorm signed a deal to build up to 16 new LNG filling stations.

According to NGVA Europe data, Germany has 144 LNG filing stations while Italy has 124 such stations. Europe in total hosts 587 LNG stations for trucks.
