Renergen said it had resumed LNG production at its small plant in South Africa following repair work on a faulty conduction oil system.
The Johannesburg-based company halted operations in October in order to protect the helium and nitrogen modules.
“Since the repair work was undertaken, the system has been thoroughly tested, and the LNG system is now operational and producing LNG,” Renergen said in a statement on November 15.
The firm said that commercial deliveries to both its customers would start later this week.
Renergen previously signed LNG supply deals with a unit of Italtile, Ceramic Industries, and Consol Glass.
“The operations team will now focus on the remaining modules to allow the helium liquefaction module to be turned on. The helium separation and recovery module is providing high-levels of confidence with recovery exceeding design parameters,” the firm said.
In September, Renergen launched what it says is South Africa’s first commercial LNG production plant as part of the first phase of its Virginia gas and helium development.
The first production phase of the Victoria project will produce around 350kg of helium and 2,500GJ of LNG.
Renergen also plans the second stage of the Virginia gas project.
